Tip #47: How to Protect Custom Post Types within Wishlist Member Plugin

When you first install Wishlist Member without changing the default settings you can protect any post/ page / category on the website, but sometimes your website includes special content that is stored in a custom post type.

Examples for custom post types are: WooCommerce products, Easy Digital Downloads products or even a very simple custom post type like FAQs.

With the default settings you will not be able to protect this content as the Wishlist Member meta box will not be displayed inside the custom post types by defaults.

Enabling Protection for Custom Post Types

In order to enable the custom post type protection you need to enable it from inside the Wishlist Member settings pages, as explained and seen in the below screenshot:

Go to Wishlist Member >> Settings >> Configuration >> Custom Post Types and choose the post type that you want Wishlist Member to handle (click on the image below to enlarge it).

In this page you will see all exiting customs post types that can be found on your website.

Wishlist Member Custom Post Type Protection Settings

If you don’t see a specific custom type it means that the plugin or theme that created this content type did not use the official WordPress codex to create a custom post type, and therefore, Wishlist Member cannot protect it as it is not part of the regular WordPress content management types and there isn’t any way to integrate with it.
