Tip #10: Should You Drip Your Content or Not?

Many membership sites owners are dealing with that question when they build their membership site.

In this tip we go over the most popular pros of content dripping vs. delivering all the content in advance.

Content Dripping Pros:

Preventing cancellations and refunds – when people get all the content ahead they can consume all the content and then cancel their subscription.

Preventing overwhelm – releasing the content on a periodic basis will prevent members from information overload and won’t scare them away.

Launch your product/ membership site sooner – You can launch your membership site when you have only part of the content prepared in advance and keep creating it as you go. That way you can start making money sooner than later.

Give people the feeling of continuity – people will know what to expect and when to expect it, and they will feel that the membership site is continuously updated with content.

Allows you to stop for evaluation – with content dripping you can pause to analyze your members’ progress, maybe even run a quiz, and that way you can adjust your upcoming content.

Delivering Content in Advance Pros:

Different learning curves – different people have a different learning curve, so some members may not like that you are “forcing” them to learn in a certain pace, and would prefer you give them all the content in advance.

There will always be scammers so just focus on those who really want to be part of your closed membership – many people drip their content mainly because they are afraid of scammers who just want to take their information and then ask for a refund/ cancel. If you make a decision not to focus on those types of people, but on the ones who really want to learn from you, you will be much more relaxed and ease.

As for now, the only option to drip your content using Wishlist Member is to use the sequential upgrade feature.

When we consult our clients about their membership sites, we realize over and over again that they are not even aware of another option to drip their content other than using the sequential upgrade feature.

Well, there is an option and it’s called Wishlist Content Scheduler which allows you to schedule protected posts to be delivered to your members on a predetermined basis (Day 1 = Post 1, Day 2 = Post 2, etc.).

Plus, if you want to add other options to your content, you can get Wishlist Content Control instead.

The Bottom Line: Should I Drip My Content or Not?

There isn’t really a strict answer to that question really, and that is why we prepared this tip for you with the pros of both options.

The best thing to do is try and see how your audience reacts.

If you are not sure, start with content dripping, since the opposite way will be much more difficult to switch from.
