Content dripping is an important and very common way to deliver content inside a closed membership site.
Many of our customers keep asking us how can they drip content using Wishlist Member and what is the best way to do it.

Content Dripping Options
Option #1: The Sequential Upgrade Feature
Using the Sequential Upgrade feature you can add or move members from one membership level to another after X number of days / weeks / months / years.
When you should use this feature:
This option can be used mostly if you create an online course and you want to move members from module to module easily, however, if you have a membership site with ongoing content added to it on a regular basis (blog style) then this option is not for you are it does not allow you to drip specific content, but specific membership levels.
The Sequential Upgrade feature can be found in Wishlist Member under “Sequential Upgrade”.
Other uses for the plugin:
This option can also be used to create bundles, meaning: selling multiple membership levels in one purchase. If you are using Wishlist Member for quite sometime now, you may know that it is possible to sell only one membership level, but if you are using the sequential upgrade feature you can sell multiple membership levels by leaving the number in the “Schedule” row at zero, as can be seen in the screenshot below (click on the image to enlarge it).
If you are interested in creating more advanced and flexible membership bundles, you can use Wishlist Bundles plugin
Option #2: Wishlist Content Scheduler Plugin
Wishlist Content Scheduler is a Wishlist dedicated plugin developed by the Wishlist Member team and it allows you to schedule content to be delivered to members after every X number of days.
When you should use this option:
Wishlist Content Scheduler can be used perfectly if you manage a membership site with content delivered to members, whether the membership has an expiration date or whether it is an ongoing membership.
Other uses for the plugin:
Wishlist Content Scheduler can be purchased separately or as part of a more advanced plugin called Wishlist Content Control that is actually a set of 3 plugins: Wishlist Content Scheduler (to schedule content), Wishlist Content Archiver (to archive content) and Wishlist Content Manager (to manage content).
Option #3: Wishlist Drip Dynamic Shortcodes Plugin – Most Recommended!
Wishlist Drip Dynamic Shortcodes allows you to display / hide content based on the members’ registration date, membership level and the time passed since the registration using simple yet powerful shortcodes.
All you need to do in order to display / hide content is to copy-paste the shortcodes into your chosen post or page and set the parameters (specified below) inside the shortcode.
In the screenshots below you can see an example of using the shortcodes:
Copy-pasting the shortcodes to any post or page:
And this is how it looks from the members’ point of view in the front-end:
Why is Wishlist Drip Dynamic Shortcodes So Powerful?
Unlike any other drip plugins, where your members cannot see the “big picture”: and does not know what content will be available to them in the future, using Wishlist Drip Dynamic Shortcodes your members will be able to see which content will be available to them in the future.
Tips for Content Dripping the Right Way
1. Plan Ahead
If you are building a new membership site from scratch and you are thinking of adding content dripping later on, you should take into consideration the structure required to create the dripping, so you won’t need to change it when your site is already active and has members.
2. Set a Reasonable Drip Period
Set a reasonable amount of days between each content delivery period to another, so you won’t create frustration on the one hand (when the delivery period is too long), or overwhelm on the other hand (when the delivery period is too short). A reasonable amount of days is about 7, depending on the type and the amount of content delivered each time.
3. Consider Adding Quizzes
If you want to make sure your members are following up with your content, you can add quizzes, making sure only members who have passed the quiz (according to settings you define) will be able to move to the next membership level.
4. Provide a Solution for Fast learners
Some clients, who have a faster learning curve, may resent the fact that they need to wait for several days before they can continue to a more advanced content, and it may even cause some of them to not register to your membership site at all. What you can do is offer 2 plans: one plan that will offer all the content in advance and one that will offer the content dripped.
